Max Riemelt stars in Netflix's original sci-fi drama series "Sense8."

Born in East Berlin, Germany, Max Riemelt made his screen debut in 1997 in a supporting role in the two-parter "Eine Familie zum Küssen." His breakthrough in Germany though came with the series "Zwei allein." In 2001, the coming-of-age comedy "Mädchen Mädchen!" marked the beginning of a successful collaboration with director Dennis Gansel, which included the feature films "Before the Fall," for which he won the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival award for Best Actor, and "The Wave," for which he won the Undine Award for Best Actor. "We Are the Night" (2010) and "The Fourth Power" (2012) followed.

Riemelt also worked with director Dominik Graf regularly — first as a lead actor in the movie "The Red Cockatoo," for which he won the 2005 Bavarian Film Award for Best Young Actor, as well as Best Actor at the Marrakech International Film Festival, and then the much acclaimed television series "In Face of the Crime," which won Best Miniseries at the German Television Award, as well as the Adolf Grimme Award for Fiction.

In addition to other starring roles in movies such as "13 Semester," "Heiter bis wolkig" and "The German Friend," Reimelt was seen in several TV movies, including "An die Grenze" and "Nachtasyl." In 2005 Riemelt received Shooting Stars Award from the European Film Promotion at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Riemelt co-starred with Hanno Koffler in several projects, including "Free Fall," directed by Stephan Lacant, "Hallesche Kometen," directed by Susanne Irina Zacharias, and the television movie "Auslandseinsatz," directed by Till Endemann. More recently, Riemelt starred in the films "Warsaw '44," "Auf Das Leben! To Life!" and "Lichtgestalten."
