Michael Hitchock was born in Defiance, Ohio, and raised in Western Springs, Illinois. He graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science and then from the University of California, Los Angeles, with an MFA. After his graduated studies he went on to become a member of The Groundlings.

Hitchcock's other film credits include "Serenity," "Wild Hogs," "Operation Endgame," "Smiley Face," "Pretty Persuasion," "Happy, Texas," and "Heartbreakers."
As a writer, Hitchcock has under his belt the drama "Where the Day Takes You," which gave Will Smith his film debut, in addition to MGM's "House Arrest" and Disney's "The Ultimate Christmas Present." Hitchcock also wrote for the latenight comedy sketch show "MAD TV," which was nominated three times for Outstanding Writing of a Comedy/Variety Series by the WGA while Hitchcock was there.
