When he was 31, he'd been clean about a year and was working as a drug counselor in Florida. He offered to entertain the audience at a convention, and following their positive response, he decided to start his career in stand-up.
Mike is a regular at all the top clubs in New York, has been heard on the "Opie and Anthony Show" appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham" and was a featured comic at both HBO's Aspen Comedy Festival and the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
In addition, Mike Destefano has also performed at over 100 recovery events all over the world including the "World Narcotics Anonymous Convention in Atlanta," "Friends of Bill and Lois in New York" and many more.
