Born in Patterson, New Jersey, Mindy Sterling was raised by a father who was a singer and comedian and a mother who was a dancer. Sterling began acting when she was 13.
After moving to Los Angeles, Sterling joined the comedy troupe The Groundlings in 1984. She then proceeded to appear in a number of TV shows, including "Friends" and "Family Matters," in addition to having recurring roles on shows like "The Larry Sanders Show," Nickelodeon's "On the Television," and NBC's "My Own Worst Enemy," opposite Christian Slater.
Her big break came with her role as Frau Farbissina in the movie "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," starring Mike Myers. She would go on to reprise this role in "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" as well as "Austin Powers in Goldmember." Her other film credits include "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
A breast cancer survivor, Sterling has one child with her husband, Brian Gadson.
