Mo Farah is an athlete competing in track and field at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for Great Britain.

Mo Farah had an exceptional season, winning the gold medal at 5000m and the silver at 10,000m at the IAAF World Championships last August. He is Britain's first 5000m world champion. He also won the European indoor title at 3000m, set a European record at 10,000m, British records at 5000m both indoors and outdoors, and won the NYC Half-Marathon in his debut at the distance in the fastest-ever time by a Briton.

In February 2011, Farah announced he was moving to Portland, Oregon to train with Alberto Salazar and the Nike Oregon Project. The 2010 European gold medalist in the 5000 and 10,000m, split with long-time coach Alan Storey to improve his chances of a medal at London 2012.

Farah suffered disappointment at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He finished sixth in his qualifying heat in the men's 5000m and did not advance to the final. His time of 13:50.95 was his slowest of the year.

Farah arrivied in London from Mogadishu, Somalia at the age of 8 and spoke very little English. He grew up in West London and began running at school when spotted by his PE Teacher. In 1996, when he was 13, Farah entered the English schools cross country and finished ninth. The following year he won the first of five English school titles.

Farah married Tania Nell in April 2010. He has a six year-old step-daughter, Rihanna , and he and Tania are expecting twins in September, just weeks after he aims to become the first Brit to win an Olympic title at both 5000 and 10,000m. With Tania due on September 25, she will be unable to fly after August 3, the day before the 10,000m final. She now plans to travel to London for the Games and stay in Great Britain until after the births.
