Monica Payne is featured in Season 2 of VH1's reality series "Couples Therapy" along with her ex-boyfriend Todd "Too $hort" Shaw.

Rapper Too $hort has collaborated with the biggest names in the music industry and he's topped the charts with hit songs like 2006's "Blow the Whistle." In 2005, he met Monica Payne and they fell in love. They dated exclusively for a while, and even though Too $hort wanted more, he was not willing to give up his partying lifestyle, so Monica ended their relationship. They have remained friends over the years, and both have always wondered what could have been. Today, Too $hort has invited Monica to "Couples Therapy" in hopes of getting a second chance at winning her heart, but she is still very hurt by their breakup, and unsure if she can ever trust him again.

Monica Payne has over 17 years professionally in the music industry. Moving from South Carolina to New York in her teenage years, she met Andre Harrell and became a part of the first New Jill Swing group called The Gyrlz, signed to Harrell's production company Uptown Records. The Gyrlz penned their entire debut album and were produced by the creators of New Jack Swing, Teddy Riley and Kyle West. Their biggest claim to fame was landing a spot as the opening act on the biggest R&B tour in the country, The Heart Break Tour, alongside New Edition, Bobby Brown and Al B. Sure. Shortly after the tour ended, the trio became a duo: Terri & Monica. T&M, the hip hop infused singer/songwriter duo released two albums on Epic/Sony records and penned songs and sang background for acts such as Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, Soul 4 Real, Heavy D., MC Lyte, Digable Planets, Total, and Chris Rock, to name a few. The duo went their separate ways after the release of their first single from their Sophomore album "Suga."

Payne continued on, pursuing a solo career and was signed by the president of DreamWorks Records. Feeling discouraged and dissatisfied with the changing of the music industry after the deal dissolved, Payne packed her bags with the idea of reinventing herself and moved to Los Angeles in the latter part of 2004. Within one short year of her arrival, she co-created one the most notable all female production/promotion teams called The Honey Collective.

The Honey Collective consists of 2 female DJs — DJ Eque and DJ Rashida — and 2 female producers/promoters — Monica Payne & Shelley Oto. The girls called the party Honey and before they knew it, a movement was born. Honey pulls together many of the movers and shakers, tastemakers, check cutters, fashionistas, artists and industry executives in Hollywood. The Honey Collective rapidly made a name for themselves and built a reputable brand to follow.

Payne's love for music is her core drive and she has skillfully intertwined music and events. Aside from The Honey Collective, she served time as a young executive for Baby Face's new label Soda Pop Entertainment, distributed by Island Def Jam. She began developing and spending a lot of time with Soda Pop's first Artist, Kristinia DeBarge, from the Legendary DeBarge Family, and quickly became her road manager. Payne has been working with Kristinia for three years now and continues to guide her. She also currently manages a young female songstress based out of South Central LA who simply goes by the nameā€¦ V.
