"Motive" (TV show) on USA Network is a thrilling crime drama from the executive producer of "Dexter" and "The Mentalist," with a unique twist focusing not on who did the crime, but why the crime was committed in the first place. The first two seasons aired on ABC.

When murder is committed, Angie Flynn, a loving, single mother and a damned good detective, along with her partner, Detective Oscar Vega, are on the case, looking for clues that will lead them to the killer. But "Motive" turns the tried-and-true crime drama formula on its head by indentifying the killer and victim at the beginning of each episode. These storylines are then further explored via stylized flashbacks which piece together more of the mysterious connection between the two characters and what drove the killer to commit murder.

The cast includes Kristin Lehman ("The Killing," "Judging Amy") as Detective Angie Flynn, Louis Ferreira ("SGU Stargate Universe," "Rookie Blue") as Detective Oscar Vega, Lauren Holly ("NCIS," "Chicago Hope," "Picket Fences") as Dr. Betty Rogers, Roger Cross ("24," "Arrow") as Staff Sergeant Boyd Bloom, Brendan Penny as Detective Brian Lucas and Cameron Bright ("The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2") as Manny Flynn.

Season 2

The exciting second season features gripping new cases with more complicated killers and intricate crime scenes. Homicide detective Angie Flynn is as determined as ever, and her pursuit for justice never falters. Her partner, Detective Oscar Vega, continues to be her rock with his no-nonsense attitude and methodical approach. Detective Brian Lucas is no longer the rookie at the station, a role he's happy to hand over to the very keen and ambitious Officer Wendy Sung. And confident and charismatic new Team Commander Sergeant Mark Cross shakes up the station when he joins the team. He and Angie share a mysterious and strained connection, one she would prefer to leave in the past. The tension leads to a breakdown in trust between Angie and Vega, and Angie realizes she must find a way to work with Cross, even if it means confronting the truth and the secret that drove them apart years ago.

Season 3

The dramatic Season 2 finale saw Angie's past and present fatally collide when her involvement in a new trial about an old case called everything she stood for as a detective into question. With Sergeant Cross at the center of it all, and the personal toll he paid as the price in the end, viewers were left wondering if Angie was calling it quits as a member of the homicide team. Season 3 picks up six months later with a burnt-out Angie having left the homicide team. But a case with direct personal implications for her beloved partner Detective Oscar Vega draws her back into the fold.

"Motive" was created by Daniel Cerone ("Dexter," "The Mentalist"), who executive-produces the show along with Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob LaBelle, Lindsay Macadam and James Thorpe. Developed by CTV, the series is produced by Foundation Features and Lark Productions in association with Bell Media and distributed by NBCUniversal International.
