In 2005 Paige Hemmis founded Tuff Chix, Inc., dedicated to performance work wear for women that is durable and fashionable. Tuff Chix is inspired by Paige Hemmis' own hard work and determination and features such items as pink work gloves, boots and tool belts. In December 2006, Paige Hemmis released her first book, "The Tuff Chix Guide to Easy Home Improvement," to inspire other women to tackle home improvement projects with confidence.
Paige Hemmis grew up in Chatsworth, California, with aspirations ranging from teacher to doctor to world traveler to wedding planner to homebuilder. During college Paige Hemmis taught first-aid and CPR to University of California, Santa Barbara students, then became a licensed Emergency Medical Technician. After graduating with Theology and Psychology degrees from UCSB and realizing the medical profession was not for her, Paige Hemmis took an International Sales Manager position taking her to Hong Kong.
Imbued with an entrepreneurial spirit, Paige Hemmis pursued substitute teaching while developing contacts in the wedding industry. Paige Hemmis launched Simply Elegant Weddings in 2001 and the natural progression of helping couples led to helping families secure their first homes. Without deep pockets, Paige Hemmis used her tenacity and resourcefulness to learn all aspects of construction, including drywall, cabinetry, electrical and plumbing. Paige Hemmis auditioned for "Monster House" to win tools so that she could fix more homes, and appeared on its Christmas episode, where she was discovered by the producers of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
Paige Hemmis considers her role on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" a blessing and feels fortunate to make her living helping others. In between extreme makeovers, Paige Hemmis lends her time and celebrity as a spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity and other charities. She will continue her mission of giving through her Tuff Chix products & foundation, dedicating support to her favorite charities.
