Pedro Cunha is a beach volleyball player competing at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for Brazil.

Brazil's Pedro Cunha makes his Olympic debut in London, and does so with the most decorated beach volleyball player in Olympic history, Ricardo Santos. After taking silver in 2000 with Ze Marco Melo, Ricardo won gold in 2004 and bronze in 2008 with Emanuel Rego. Pedro and Ricardo didn't team up until July 2011 and barely met the requirement of competing in 12 FIVB events during the Olympic qualification

period from Jan. 1, 2011 to June 17, 2012. Their 12th event together was the Rome Grand Slam, the final qualifying tournament. But in those 12 events, Ricardo and Pedro won a medal six times — four gold and two bronze.

Pedro and Ricardo's partnership almost never came to be. Pedro began the 2011 season teamed with Pedro Salgado but injured his leg in June. While he was out, Salgado played with Rhooney Ferramenta, and in mid-July agreed to partner with Ricardo, who had been playing with 2008 Olympic silver medalist Marcio Araujo. But before Ricardo and Salgado could even enter a tournament, Salgado was suspended by the FIVB for a positive drug test (which was later determined to be the result of an error by the labratory). That led Ricardo to pick up Pedro Cunha, who was finally healthy by the end of July. The new duo won its second tournament together, the Klagenfurt Grand Slam, and went on to win three more tournaments before the Olympic qualifying period ended.

Pedro made his debut on the FIVB World Tour at the 2003 World Championships with Tande Ramos; they finished 17th overall. Pedro's first full season on tour was 2004 with Rogerio Ferreira, with whom he won his first World Tour event, the Carolina Beach Open. Pedro partnered with four different players in 2005, then settled with Franco Neto, a 1996 Olympian, for 2006, 2007 and most of 2008; they also won one event together, the 2007 Marseille Open. For two of the last three events in 2008, Pedro played with Alison Cerutti, who enters the London Games as a reigning world champion with Emanuel Rego; Pedro and Alison won their second event together, the Manama Open. Pedro teamed with Pedro Salgado in 2009, but only for five events before getting hurt. Pedro Cunha then spent 2010 with Thiago Santos Barbosa, earning a best finish of fourth place in their first tournament.

Before joining the World Tour, Pedro won the FIVB Under-21 Junior World Championships in 2001 with Anselmo Sigoli. Pedro and Adriano Fonseca took the silver medal at the U-21 Worlds in 2002, a year before Pedro teamed with Pedro Salgado to win gold at the 2003 U-21 Worlds.
