Guidry fondly recalls, when as a very young boy, he was allowed to operate the lights and siren of the patrol unit of a State Trooper (a friend of his father's).

Guidry is known as the class clown in a department staffed with very serious alpha-male types. Because he's not the tallest or most beefy guy in the group, he's had to hone his gift for gab and the ability to disarm people with a joke or wisecrack. According to Guidry, he can talk anyone into handcuffs and make them smile the whole way to jail.
