R. Brandon Johnson stars in "Shake It Up" on Disney Channel in the recurring role of Gary Wilde.
Brandon Johnson's life began in a flurry of activity. Born and raised in Bloomington, Minnesota, he spent the majority of his youth playing hockey, baseball, soccer, football, skateboarding, snowboarding and his other passion-playing the drums!
Graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a BFA in Comprehensive Theatre, Brandon set his sights on New York City. There he studied at the American

Brandon has appeared in over 27 commercials-his favorite being the Nokia "20 Lives Campaign" where he created the character Phil Blitz. The campaign aired throughout 29 countries throughout Europe in various languages. While in NYC Brandon originated the recurring character Michael McBain on ABC's "One Life to Live." In summer 2008, the network brought him back as a new recurring character. This time he played the sexy, loyal ranch hand, Chuck Wilson III. He also has done many day playing roles on "The Guiding Light" and "As The World Turns." His other television credits include the History Channel's "Blood Red." He has also been seen on "Hannah Montana" in the recurring role of Brian Winters.
Brandon has also been lucky to work with some of the industries most talented actors. Some credits include "The Notorious Bettie Page" (Gretchen Mol, Lili Taylor) and the dark comedy, "Rick" (Bill Pullman, Aaron Stanford). Lead roles include "Julian in Malevolence" and the political drama, "Invisible Evidence" shot entirely on location in Guatemala.
Another area that Brandon has been active in is hosting. His first experience began on WNYE's "Cool In Your Code." To date it has received 19 NY Emmy nominations and has launched in London with hopes of sprouting in LA. Simultaneously he worked as the premiere host for OLN's "Rally America." Soon afterwards he booked "Formula D" for the G4 TV Network.
In January of 2006, Brandon moved to Los Angeles. Upon doing so he was offered a shot at HGTV's "Get Out Way Out!" It's been a perfect fit ever since. He also became the co-host of USA's "Character Fantasy."
When not in front of the camera he can be found behind a drum kit-his second home for the past 19 years. Brandon's done 4 US Tours with various bands and released 5 albums.
