His life threatened, he was forced to leave the country with his family in 1992. His first role abroad was the lead in the internationally award-winning film "Before the Rain," which was also nominated for an Oscar.
Since his debut in Hollywood films, he has become recognized for his roles in "Mission: Impossible II," "The Saint," "Eyes Wide Shut," "Snatch," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," "X-Men: First Class," and the TV show "24." In addition, he has published four books of poetry and released four musical albums. In 2000, he co-founded the Ulysses Theatre in Croatia's Brijuni Islands, where he directs and acts in many of the productions. He currently lives in Croatia.
