Ray McKinnon stars in "Sons of Anarchy" on FX in the recurring role of Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Lincoln "Linc" Potter. " Both antagonist and provocateur to the SAMCRO crew, McKinnon portrays the strange, gangly man behind the “federally funded curtain” aimed at rendering organized crime in Northern Cali ineffective, if not inert. Let the mind games begin.

On the big screen, McKinnon recently starred in "Footloose" (2011), opposite Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Andie MacDowell

and Dennis Quaid, as Wes Warnicker. McKinnon also appeared in Jeff Nichols’ Cannes Grand Prize Critic’s award-winning film, "Take Shelter," as Michael Shannon’s older brother.

Ray McKinnon’s film career spans three decades and includes Barry Levinson's "Bugsy" with Warren Beatty, "Apollo 13," alongside Tom Hanks and Kevin Bacon, "A Perfect World," opposite Kevin Costner, Joel and Ethan Coen's "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?," "Needful Things," Ron Howard's "The Missing" with Tommy Lee Jones, Cate Blanchett and Evan Rachel Wood, and "The Blind Side," starring Sandra Bullock. McKinnon has appeared sporadically in television and is perhaps best known for portraying “Reverend H.W. Smith” in HBO’s "Deadwood."

Ray’s true passion has been independent film to which he and his beloved late wife, Lisa Blount, dedicated much of the last 15 years pursuing. McKinnon wrote and directed the Lisa Blount and Walton Goggins-produced, 38 minute film, "The Accountant," which went on to win an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short in 2002. McKinnon next wrote and directed the sad Ozark drama, "Chrystal," starring Lisa in the titular role and Billy Bob Thornton as her husband. "Chrystal" was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004.

Other home made films include the silly, sappy, super-dry, gaystraight-straighter film festival favorite, "Randy and the Mob," as well as the 200 dollar and 22 cents, 7 minute un-opus, "Spanola Pepper Sauce Company," where McKinnon directed the Graham Gordy penned, absurdist, existential filmic journey into the well-trod southern Vampire genre. In 2009, McKinnon produced and costarred with Hal Holbrook in the acclaimed Scott Teems’ indie drama, "That Evening Sun," for which McKinnon was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award as Best Supporting Actor.

Ray continues to live in a century-old blue house in Arkansas with his cat, Henry.
