Ricky Berens is a swimmer competing at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for the USA.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medal winning 4x200m freestyle team member trains with coach Dave Salo and the Trojan Swim Club. He moved from Texas to LA in 2011.

Born and raised in Charlotte, Berens started swimming when he was 4-years-old on a neighborhood summer league team and began swimming competitively at the age of 9. He became a decorated swimmer at South Mecklenburg High School, where he graduated from in 2006. He was named the 2006 national high school swimmer of the year. From there, he went on to the University of Texas and was apart of the 800 free national champion relay team his junior and senior year.

Berens qualified for the 2012 Olympic team by finishing third in the 200m free. He won gold as part of the 4x200m free relay at the 2011 FINA World Championships. He placed third in the 200m free and eighth in the 100m free at the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships. He took second with the 4x200m free-relay team at the 2010 FINA Short Course World Championships. He was part of the gold medal-winning 800m free-relay team at the 2010 MOO Pan Pacific championships. He earned a gold medal and set a world record as a member of the 800m free relay at the 2009 FINA World Championships. He won two bronze medals at the 2009 NCAA Championships in the 200y IM and 200y free. He was a member of the gold medal-winning 400m med-relay at the 2007 Pan Ams. He placed second in the 200y IM at the 2008 NCAA Championships. He was a member of the American record-setting 800y free-relay team at the 2008 Big 12 Championships
