Robert Bathurst stars in "The Pillars of the Earth" on Starz as Percy Hamleigh.

British actor Robert Bathurst is best known for playing stuffy businessman David Marsden in five series of "Cold Feet," between 1997 and 2003. His co-stars included James Nesbitt and John Thomson.

He plays Mark Thatcher in 2006's "Coup!" written by satirist John Fortune. It follows the true story of how Simon Mann (Jared Harris) found himself confined to an African jail, after his involvement with an attempted coup in Equatorial Guinea in 2004.

In the comedy "My Dad's The Prime Minister," he played No.10 resident, and father of teenager Dylan, Michael Phillips. Written by Ian Hislop, it ran for two series in 2003 and 2004. The program started out on CBBC but its satrical content saw it become a hit with the whole family.

He played wannabe stand-up comedian Mark Taylor in "Joking Apart," from the pen of Steven Moffatt ("Coupling," "Doctor Who," "Press Gang"). The show began as a pilot in 1991, with two series following in 1993 and 1995.

His other credits include "The Secret," alongside Haydn Gwynne and Stella Gonet, "Goodbye Mr. Steadman," "The Safe House," guesting on "New Tricks," radio plays such as "Emma" and "Forty Years On," with Alan Bennett, plus numerous stage roles.
