Robinne Lee stars in "Being Mary Jane" on BET.

Born in Mount Vernon, New York, Robinne Lee attended Yale University, graduating with a degree in psychology. Upon graduation, she decided to pursue acting and began studying with the well-known acting instructor Sondra Lee. Lee landed her first film role in the 1998 Miramax romantic comedy "Hav Plenty," opposite the film's writer-director Christopher Scott Cherot. She then continued her acting studies while simultaneously attending Columbia Law School, graduating with a law degree in 2000. That same year, Lee also starred opposite Debbi Morgan and Maya Angelou in the Hallmark Hall of Fame drama "The Runaway."

In 2003, Lee appeared in "Deliver Us From Eva" with LL Cool J and the action comedy "National Security" with Martin Lawrence. Roles in Sony's "13 Going on 30" and "Hitch," opposite Will Smith, followed. In 2007, Robinne completed a ten-episode recurring role in Tyler Perry's "House of Payne" and starred in the independent film "This Is Not a Test," for which she won the the Boston Film Festival's Best Actor award.

Lee then appeared in "Seven Pounds," starring Will Smith, and "Hotel for Dogs," opposite Don Cheadle. Recently she has completed shooting various indie projects, including "Forgiveness" with Richard T. Jones, "The Under Shepherd" with Isaiah Washington, "Divorce Invitation" with Elliot Gould and "Miss Dial," which she also produced.

Lee is currently working on her first novel.
