Roger Ashton-Griffiths stars in "Game of Thrones" on HBO in the recurring role of Lord Mace Tyrell.

Roger Ashton-Griffiths earned a Bachelor of Music at Lancaster University and joined English National Opera as a singer before stepping sideways into film and television, where he has become a well-established character actor. Barnum, Brian Helgeland's " A Knight's Tale," starring Heath Ledger, Peter Hewitt's "Princess of Thieves" as Friar Tuck, Michael Hoffman's "Restoration," Nicholas Hytner's "The Madness of King George," Richard Attenborough's "Shadowlands," Peter Greenaway's "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover," Roman Polanski's "Pirates," and Barry Levinson's "Young Sherlock Holmes."

On UK television, Ashton-Griffiths has been seen in Sky's "This Is Jinsy," "Little Crackers" and "The Colour of Magic"; BBC's "The Accidental Farmer," "Margaret," "The Syrian Prefect," "Warriors: Napoleon," "The Roman Mysteries," "Samuel Johnson: The Dictionary Man," "Torchwood" and "Vanity Fair"; and Channel 4's "A Very British Sex Scandal." On stateside television, he has appeared in HBO's "The Passion," Showtime's "The Tudors," ABC's "Empire," and NBC's miniseries "Merlin" and "The Odyssey."



Stage credits subsequently include Gloucester in "King Lear" at Colchester, Judge Turpin in "Sweeney Todd" at Liverpool and Watford, Algol in "Space Queen Maladjusta" at Southampton, and Angelo in "Archangels Don't Play Pinball" at Bristol.
