When did you first start
Savion Wright in "American Idol 2015"
Savion Wright American Idol 2015

I first started singing at the age of six.
What role does music play in your life?

Music is my muse, and my soul mate. I've devoted everything I have to my music; I'm married to it. Hopefully, the feeling is mutual.
What makes you unique?

I tend to think outside of the norms as an artist, and as a leader to stand out and become a trailblazer. Also, my honesty and earnest attitude towards everything that I do as well. I always look at music with a whole-hearted attitude, because there's always something new to learn. Just like there are new animals being discovered everyday throughout the world, there are also new techniques and approaches you can take on music. I also have a way with connecting with people; they seem to gravitate toward my welcoming personality, and persona.
Do you have a wish list of writers you'd like to write with? If so, who?

SO MANY (I've thought a lot about this!!!) I'd love to write with:

1. Ryan Tedder
2. Pharrell
3. John Mayer
4. Chris Martin
5. Matt Corby
6. Max Martin
7. Dr. Luke
8. Ari Levine
9. Rob Thomas
10. Ed Sheeran
11. Paul McCartney
12. Elton John
What are your top three all-time favorite songs and why?

1. "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke: I have a personal tie with this song. It was one of the first songs I ever performed in front of a large audience. The meaning of the song is so deep, inspiring, and passionate everything I want in my own music. It has practically defined me as an artist; at every show I perform it's always requested for me to sing.

2. "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay: From the moment I first heard this song I loved it. The lyrics take me to another place, and give me that bubbly feeling all over. The lyrics are so dark and powerful, yet the hook pulls you in and takes over. It's the song I wish I had written myself.

3. "Waiting on the World to Change" by John Mayer: One of my favorites songs not just because its simple progression makes the song feel so good from beginning to end. But, it's the lyrics that capture you through and through, and you can't escape the truth of the song. It will always be one of my go-to songs anyplace and anytime.
What is your strongest musical strength?

My strongest musical strength is my versatility/knowledge of popular music and well roundedness.
What is your greatest musical weakness?

I'm working on soloing on the electric guitar; it's one of my biggest weaknesses currently.
Who are your top three favorite and most influential artists? What is it about your favorite artists that you are drawn to?

I seriously have TOO MANY, I can't put just three!

1. John Mayer
2. Ryan Tedder
3. Michael Jackson
4. Eric Clapton

First and foremost I ALWAYS go with what makes me feel good, and each of my favorite artists have many songs that I can delve into and just feel the passion, the lyrics, and the soul. That's when you know it's great music!
If you had to pattern your career after another artist, who would it be and why?

I would pattern my career after John Mayer. Because he has worked hard to get to where he is as an artist, musician, and singer. Traveling the world touring, making music and hearing people sing along to your songs would be a dream come true.
Why do you think you should be the next "American Idol"?

I should be the next American Idol, because I choose to carry the torch and I want to bring forth a new generation of artistry into the forefront of the music industry. I want to heal a dying breed of true artists, while looking back and learning from the ones who came before me with the utmost respect, love and admiration. It's not just about being the next "American Idol." This is about taking an opportunity on a platform that has helped countless people become the artists and singers they've dreamt of becoming. It would be an honor to be able to perform on a "stage" where so many of the artists I watched while growing up became superstars overnight. And if America sees me fit for the job of the next "American Idol," I will graciously and humbly accept wholeheartedly. And I will work hard to prove that they made the "Wright" decision. (Get it hahaha.)
