Sergeant Sifuentes from "Bordertown: Laredo" stars in the A&E reality docu-series.
Sergeant Sifuentes ("Bordertown: Laredo") is the longest-tenured member of the Narcotics division in Laredo having served in the unit since 1999. He's been working for the LPD since 1991, having spent time on patrol and in CSI. Sergeant Sifuentes loves the proactive style of Narcotics, and his most memorable bust was finding two Jamaican nationals transporting 2,000 lbs of marijuana. Here is an excerpt from an interview
What's your favorite thing about being in the Narcotics Unit?
I'm living the dream. I enjoy working in a division that is proactive instead of reactive. Picking my criminal targets and taking them off the streets. It's making a real difference that I like.
Does being a Narcotics Officer on the border make you more apprehensive about the job?
It's not a worry but something I'm very aware of. You're within arm's reach here on the border.
Is there any case from the past that was the most memorable for you?
I loaded 2,000 lbs of marijuana in a tractor trailer and two Jamaican nationals into a C-5 transport plane and flew them to New Jersey. We loaded the entire truck onto the plane. The logistics were horrible. When we landed in New Jersey, we drove with the 2,000 lbs of marijuana in the tractor trailer along with the two Jamaican nationals to downtown Manhattan to make the bust. We arrested four more Jamaicans and made the case. That one will never go away.
