Shaun Evans stars in the Encore miniseries "The Take," opposite Tom Hardy and Brian Cox.

Born in Liverpool, Shaun Evans enrolled in the National Youth Theater at the age of 16 to follow his dreams of acting. He then went to train at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2001. Evans got his first big break portraying the gay French teacher Jean Paul Keating in the British television series "Teachers" for one season. Other UK television roles have included parts in "Murder City," "Gently's Last Stand," "Ashes to Ashes" and "The Virgin Queen."

Evans made his feature film debut with the Irish romantic, musical comedy "The Boys & Girls from County Clare," co-starring Bernard Hill, Com Meany and Andrea Corr. Since then, he has made his Hollywood debut in "Being Julia," as the young lover who comes between Jeremy Irons and Annette Bening, and has also starred in "Sparkle," a British comedy starring Stockard Channing and Bob Hoskins, the hitchhiker horror "Gone" for Miramax, "Princess Kaiulani," the biopic "Telstar: The Joe Meek Story," and the Clive Barker horror "Dread." Evans also starred in the Academy Award-winning short film "Cashback," and the feature-length version of the same name.

Wanting to explore the darker side of his acting ability led him to a role in "Boy A," a film about a young man who has spent the last 14 years of his life locked up behind bars for a murder he committed at the age of ten. Evans plays Chris the best friend to the main character of the story portrayed by Andrew Garfield. The film won multiple BAFTA Awards.

Evans has also spent a fair amount of time on stage in London. He recently worked with Danny Dyer in the Trafalgar Studio 2 production of "Kurt and Sid," written by Roy Smiles.
