Steve Pemberton stars in BBC America's "Whitechapel," as Edward Buchan.

British actor Steve Pemberton recently starred in BBC's "Psychoville" and "Blackpool," and ITV's comedy "Benidorm." He is perhaps best known though from his role in the BBC cult comedy classic "The League of Gentlemen," a show which he also co-wrote with some of his comedy partners. The glut of awards garnered by the show — including The Royal Television Society, the Golden Rose of Montreux and BAFTA — led to the popular film "The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse," which Pemberton also co-wrote and starred in. Further television roles include two collaborations with director Andy Wilson — "Gormenghast" and the recent adaptation of Agatha Christie's classic "Death on the Nile," "Shameless" for director Mark Mylod, "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)" and "In the Red."

On the big screen, Pemberton was seen in "Mr. Bean's Holiday," starring Rowan Atkinson, "Lassie," opposite John Lynch, Samantha Morton and Peter O'Toole, Woody Allen's "Match Point," Douglas Adams' science fiction epic "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," and the comedy spoof "Churchill, the Hollywood Years," starring Christian Slater and Neve Campbell. Pemberton was also in HBO's movie "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers," alongside Geoffrey Rush and Charlize Theron.
