Steve Schirripa stars in "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" on ABC Family as Leo Boykewich, the "Sausage King." Steve Schirripa also stars in the movie "Kill the Irishman," alongside Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer and Vincent D'Onofrio, as Mike Frato.

Steve Schirripa was born in Brooklyn, New York—a city noted more for the "mob" stereotype. But stereotypes, like a wise guy's alibi, can be misleading. A series regular on David Chase's acclaimed HBO drama "The Sopranos" in

the role of Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri, the Brooklyn College graduate's acting odyssey began while working at a hotel on the Las Vegas strip.

Once the entertainment director of The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Steve worked with such comedians as Drew Carey, Kevin Pollak and Bruce Baum. His cameo roles in their comedy specials led to episodic work on the big and small screen, with Steve continually appearing in more productions. Over the past few years, Schirripa has guest starred on ABC's "Ugly Betty," NBC's "Joey," "Enterprise," NBC's "Law & Order," ABC's "My Wife and Kids," NBC's "Ed," ABC's "The George Lopez Show" and CBS' "The King of Queens."

As a regular popular guest on the talk show circuit, NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" approached Steve to be a special correspondent; Steve appeared on the show over a dozen times. He is also a correspondent for NBC's "The Today Show" and a regular film critic on Comedy Central's "The Showbiz Show." Steve has been a guest on the following shows: ABC's "Good Morning America," ABC's "The View," "Good Day Live," "Fox and Friends," FOX Sports' "Best Damn Sports Show Period," NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly," ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel," CBS's "The Late Late Show," "Imus" and several other national and regional programs. Schirripa was also the host of Spike TV's series "Casino Cinema."

Schirripa's big screen credentials are as formidable as his portrayal of Bobby Bacala. Schirripa recently won best supporting actor in the New York Independent Film Festival for his role in "What Are the Odds?" Steve also stars in Duane Hopwood, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He can be seen in the Newline feature film "High Roller." He's played memorable characters in "Monday Night Mayhem" with John Turturro, with David Spade in "Meet Joe Dirt" and with David Arquette in "See Spot Run." Schirripa also appeared in "Detroit Rock City," "Flintstones – Viva Rock Vegas," Martin Scorsese's "Casino" and Terry Gilliam's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." He recently lent his voice to Sony Pictures animated film "Open Season 2." Schirripa also starred in "The Hungry Ghosts," directed by his "Sopranos" castmate Michael Imperioli. The film and Schrripa's work have gotten much critical praise. Jason Guerrasio of Filmmaker Magazine says "The Hungry Ghost" is "gripping ... an impressive debut film that offers an uncompromising look at the complexities of life and the redemptive qualities we need to get through it … Steve Schirripa gives a remarkable performance."

Schirripa can also add published writer to his list of credits. The National Bestseller, "A Goomba's Guide to Life" published by Clarkson Potter, is his first in a series of three Goomba guidebooks. This comical book co-written by Charles Fleming, includes chapters on growing up in Brooklyn, great Goombas in history, and Goombas' "do's" and "don'ts." His second book "The Goomba's Book of Love" and his third "The Goomba Diet: For Those with an Appetite for Life," are currently in stores. With the popularity of the Goomba series, Steve was asked to write Goomba books for young adults, the first entitled "Nicky Deuce: Welcome to the Family," which was followed up by "Nicky Deuce: Home for the Holidays." Because of the book's success, Nickelodeon optioned the Nicky book idea, which is currently in pre-production on transforming the book into a film. Schirripa is attached as an executive producer and actor to the project.

Schirripa was also the host of NBC's poker themed game show entitled "Face the Ace." In this high stakes competition, contestants played against professional poker players in Heads-Up No Limit Texas Hold'Em, an exciting game that requires confidence, aggression and bluffing.

Currently he is starring on the hit ABC Family series, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." The series is ABC Family's #1 original series of all-time across the board, averaging 4 million total viewers per episode and is ranked a dominant #1 in its time slot versus all cable in all key demos. The series also won the network's first Teen Choice Award for "Choice Summer TV Show."

Next, Schirripa will be seen hosting Investigation Discovery's "Nothing Personal," a series that showcases the risky life of a real life hit man. Through a combination of testimony from key informants, chilling archive footage, and interviews with people who ultimately brought the hit men to justice, Steve, a true-crime aficionado, helps unfurl a web of danger and deceit in this underground world.

Steve's food-based series "Steve Schirripa is Hungry" aired in May 2010 on Life Channel 25 in New York City. Steve was also seen in Clint Eastwood's new drama/thriller "Hereafter," opposite Matt Damon.
