"Taking the Stage" Season 2 is back to capture all the drama, competition and relationships in the lives of the talented students at Cincinnati's famed, School for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). Last year's junior dance star, Tyler Nelson, returns for his senior year and is challenged by a whole new crop of talented hip hop rivals. Also new to the school is an aspiring rapper, a pop country singer and a brand new singer songwriter who steps into the shoes of the now graduated, Mia Carruthers.
These gifted students face difficult decisions in planning for their futures and because of their common bonds of artistic expression, form life long friendships along the way. Gaining acceptance to SCPA is an honor and talented dancers, musicians and actors have to audition to get into the school. Once they're there, students spend most of their waking hours honing their skills for a chance to prove they've got what it takes to make it.
Kids who attend SCPA go on to study arts at prestigious universities and pursue careers on Broadway, in Hollywood and all facets of the entertainment business. Among the performers who have attended SCPA are actress Sarah Jessica Parker ("Sex and the City"), actor/director Todd Luiso ("High Fidelity," "Love Liza"), actor Rocky Carroll ("NCIS") and singer Nick Lachey.
"Taking The Stage" is conceptualized and executive produced by multi-platinum recording artist and actor Nick Lachey (former member of 98 Degrees, "Charmed," NBC's "Clash of the Choirs"), an SCPA graduate, based on his own experience attending the school. Colton Gramm, Mark Ford & Kevin Lopez and Marc Platt also serve as executive producers for the series. Liz Gateley and Heather Olander serve as executive producers of the series for MTV.
