Tate Taylor stars in "Winter's Bone," opposite Jennifer Lawrence, as Mike Satterfield.

Tate Taylor has been acting, writing, and directing in Los Angeles for over a decade. His television credits include "Six Feet Under," "Queer as Folk," "The Drew Carey Show," "Charmed," and "I Spy." Tate also appeared in the feature film "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion," opposite Lisa Kudrow. Tate originated the role of RJ in Del Shores critically acclaimed play "Southern Baptist Sissies," opposite fellow "Winter's Bone" cast member Dale Dickey. Tate also stars opposite Olivia Newton-John in Del Shores television series "Sordid Lives."

Tate's writing and directing credits include the award winning short film "Chicken Party." Tate wrote and directed his first feature film "Pretty Ugly People" in 2007, which went on to play at 35 festivals, winning top honors at eight, and receiving a theatrical release in 2009 by Osiris Entertainment.

In addition, Tate has recently acquired film rights to the New York Times best-selling novel "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. Tate will direct his own adaptation of the book, starring Emma Stone, with Chris Columbus and Michael Barnathan of 1492 Films producing in concert with Brunson Green of Harbinger Pictures.
