Tavis Smiley is the host of PBS's late-night television talk show "Tavis Smiley," as well as "The Tavis Smiley Show" from Public Radio International (PRI). He also is one of the celebrity contestants competing in Season 19 of ABC's ballroom competition series, "Dancing with the Stars." He teams with professional partner Sharna Burgess.

Manifesto," both of which were New York Times bestsellers. His latest book, "Death of a King: The Real Story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Final Year," was released in September 2014. It examines the widespread assaults on Dr. King's character, ideology and political tactics in the year leading up to his assassination.

Smiley is the founder of the nonprofit Tavis Smiley Foundation, which recently announced a $3 million, four-year campaign called "Ending Poverty: America's Silent Spaces" to alleviate endemic poverty in America. In 2009, Time magazine named Smiley to its list of "The World's 100 Most Influential People." In April 2014, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored him with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
