Ted Vernon from "South Beach Classics" stars in the Discovery Channel reality docu-series.

Born in Long Island, New York, Ted Vernon tried to make his way in his father's real-estate business before realizing that the "nicey nicey talk and suit and tie" weren't really for him. In the early 1970s, he rolled into Miami and found a base for his growing classic-car business, SOBE Classics.

Vernon soon attracted plenty of attention to himself and his company through his appearances in the ring as

a semi-pro boxer and wrestler.

Ted Vernon ("South Beach Classics") has been an actor, writer and executive producer ever since he played the title role in his own screenplay of "Hammerhead Jones." Ted was the executive producer of John Carpenter's "Village of the Damned," starring Christopher Reeve, Kirstie Alley and Linda Kozlowski. Vernon's credits as an actor and executive producer include the cult film "Scarecrows," "South Beach," opposite Peter Fonda and Gary Busey; "Silent Hunter" with Fred Williamson and Miles Okeefe; "The Unholy" with Ben Cross and Trevor Howard; and "Deadly Rivals" with Andrew Stevens and Margot Hemmingway.

In addition, Vernon can be seen in numerous music videos, including "My Blue Angel" with Aaron Tippin and "Miami High Boy" with Don Johnson and Andrew Hugger. Vernon also has had his own rock band for many years as lead singer of Ted Vernon and the Bulldogs, The Chromatics and The Autotones. Vernon's Lifestyle was documented in the series "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."

Vernon's 35 year knowledge of the car business was documented in a book called "Collecting Cars for Fun and Profit." Theater credits include "The King and I" as the King, "Annie" as Oliver Warbucks and "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" as C.J. Scruggs.

Miami knows Vernon for his professional boxing days with a record of 21:1 and as a professional wrestler, stock car, stunt and demolition derby driver.
