Ty Ruff from "The Challenge: Rivals II" is one of the contestants on Season 24 of the MTV reality competition series in summer 2013. He is teamed up with his rival, Leroy Garrett. After Ty gets Leroy's partner sent home for violence and then sends Leroy home himself in an intense elimination battle, Leroy goes online to trash talk Ty.

Ty previously competed in "The Challenge: Battle of the Exes" with his ex Emily Schromm, and "Real World Road Rules Challenge: Rivals," on which he was paired up

with his rival, Brandon Nelson. Ty was originally on "The Real World: DC" and is from Baltimore, Maryland.

Rivals II

It was bad enough that Ty sent Leroy home on "Battle of the Exes," but Leroy had to stir the pot even further by airing his grievances on the internet, calling Ty "crazy." Although Ty and Leroy have the athleticism to perform in challenges, Ty's temperamental personality could put a wrinkle in their plans. Leroy worries, "Ty is good with getting in people's heads, but it's definitely a roll of the dice when you're playing with him. You never know." Leroy makes up for Ty's unpredictability with his quick wit and good looks, winning him points with the girls. Ty reveals, "Leroy is very popular with people in the house. He's going to make everyone laugh, and he'll make us a lovable team." Ever the ladies' man, Leroy's wandering eye lands on a veteran girl, but pursuing a romance could jeopardize their game. Can these two keep the crazy under control or are they doomed to make another early exit?

Battle of the Exes

Emily and Ty's relationship began on "The Real World: DC." Ty recalls, "When I first saw Emily, I was immediately attracted to her and we ended up hooking up for a pretty long time. But eventually, our love turned completely to hate." That hate culminated with Emily spitting in his face. Later on "Cutthroat," a prank by Emily set Ty off and caused him to trash Emily's bed in a fit of anger. And when Ty lost his Cutthroat elimination, his then-teammate Emily declared that she hoped to never be on a team with Ty again. However, on "Battle of the Exes," Ty will be Emily's one and only teammate — and it has Emily worried, as she explains, "Ty has the build and the muscles, but that's all for show. When he gets down to it, he never follows through. I don't even know if we're going to make it past one challenge!" We'll see if these bickering exes can best Emily's grim prediction.

Since his shocking loss on "Cutthroat," Ty Ruff claims to have looked to the stars for inspiration ... literally. He explains, "I have fully embraced my new astrological sign—as an Aries—and forged on to new, exciting endeavors in life." But Ty should be careful—while Aries men are described as adventurous and confident, they are also cursed as being impatient and quick-tempered. Never one to hold his tongue, this notorious "Real World: D.C." hothead is known for pushing buttons and rubbing people the wrong way—including his rival partner.

Some "Challenge" newcomers may be here in hopes of winning big or having a crazy time, but Ty is a man on a mission. This young powerhouse proclaims, "I'm here to redeem myself." Looking to shake the bad reputation that he earned on the "Real World: DC," Ty plans to be on his best behavior. Ty is confident that if he can just keep his temper under control, he'll be able to show off a more positive side of his personality. Will this reformed hothead be able to clear his name or will his short fuse get the best of him?

The Real World: DC

Ty Ruff is not one to let the worst get the best of him. Abandoned by his biological parents, Ty was shuffled around foster homes before being adopted at age five; and he grew up in a part of Baltimore he compares to "The Wire." Despite growing up in the church, he is anti-religion and thinks believing in God is a crutch. He relies only on himself. A recent graduate of Trinity College (where he played football and majored in economics), he's looking for the next thing that life has in store. Will he find it in D.C.? Ty is handsome, smart, athletic and opinionated, and he's not afraid to share his opinion. On one hand, he's a smooth, funny charmer who always seems to know just the right thing to say, on the other hand, his quick temper can get him into trouble. Ty is fresh out of a three-year relationship and ready to take on D.C. He's a guy's guys, but there just might be a roommate who steals his heart.
