Tyler McLaughlin from "Wicked Tuna" is one of the fishing captains featured in the National Geographic Channel reality docu-series. He is the captain of the Pin Wheel.

At 25 years old, Tyler McLaughlin is the youngest captain in the fleet. Despite his youth, he has earned a reputation as one of the best tuna fishermen on the East Coast. Tyler caught his first bluefin at age 7 and he has been hooked ever since.

Tyler wanted to be a commercial fisherman right after high school. "I grew up on

boats; my dad used to take me out fishing with him all the time. I know there are other things I could be doing — " I don't come from a fishing family — but all I've ever wanted to do is be a commercial fisherman. I was ready to jump into fishing full-time right after graduation, but my family insisted I go to college first. So we made a deal — if I graduated from college, my dad would co-sign the lease for a boat. And that's exactly how it happened."

Tyler's privileged background has afforded him his own boat at a young age, which is something that makes many in the bluefin fleet question whether he has earned his captaincy. Tyler is cocky, competent and outspoken. He loves to push the other captains' buttons, especially when he's got a fish on his deck to brag about.

The Pin Wheel may not be moored in Gloucester, but the young captain and crew left an indelible mark on the fleet in season 2 by outfishing the veteran fishermen and ending up with the #1 spot on the leaderboard. Hailing from Rye, New Hampshire, Tyler is known for "fishing hard" — often staying out for up to a week at a time, and traveling farther than his competitors for a bite.

In addition to keeping his title as reigning champ, Tyler faces an additional challenge in season 3 — breaking in a new crew. After the departure of his previous mates Alex Whitney and Adam Moser, whose teamwork helped propel the Pin Wheel to victory, Tyler enlisted the help of two college friends who are great fun to have on the boat, but greenhorns at fishing. Can Tyler whip them into shape in time to hold onto the crown?
