Vinette Robinson stars in "The A-Word" on SundanceTV as Nicola.

Vinette Robinson is best known for her role as Detective Sally Donavon in the BBC series "Sherlock." Other UK television credits include "Close to the Enemy," "Doctor Who," "Cold Feet," "Hustle," "Casualty," "Murphy's Law," "Doctors," "Hope Springs," and "Waterloo Road" as Helen Hopewell. Robinson also starred in Lifetime's original miniseries "The Red Tent."

Imelda Staunton and Jim Broadbent, "Imagine Me & You," alongside Piper Perabo, Lena Headey and Matthew Goode, and "Powder," opposite Liam Boyle and Alfie Allen.

In 2012 Robinson was awarded the Clarence Derwent Award for Best Female in a Supporting Role for her performance as Ophelia opposite Michael Sheen in the Young Vic's production of "Hamlet," directed by Ian Rickson. In the same year she was also awarded the Offie Award for her performance at Southwark in 2012 for Best Female Performance in "Tender Napalm." She also performed in "Measure for Measure" at the National Theatre, a sequence of four plays with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2005, and a national tour of "War & Peace."

Following her television debut in 1999 in BBC's "The Cops," Robinson spent three years at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, joining alumni that include Angela Lansbury, Minnie Driver, Amanda Root, Julia Ormond and Terence Stamp.
