"Who Do You Think You Are?" Season 5 on TLC is a reality series, which aired its first three seasons on NBC, starring today's most-beloved and iconic celebrities, who all give television viewers an intimate look as they embark on a journey of self-discovery to trace their family trees. Each episode reveals surprising, inspiring and sometimes tragic stories that are often linked to events in American and international history.

Each week, a different celebrity is taken on a journey into his or her family history. The journey is one of surprising and deeply emotional encounters with the result being one of the most compelling reality formats of recent years. During each episode, viewers are taken on an emotional, personal and often mysterious quest following America's best-known celebrities into their past, sharing their surprise as they uncover stories of heroism and tragedy, love and betrayal, secrets and intrigue that lie at the heart of their family histories.

At the same time, the series tells a distinctly American story as it celebrates the twists and turns of a great nation and the people who struggled for freedom and opportunity. As each celebrity discovers his unknown relatives — most of whom overcame huge obstacles, the show takes viewers back through world history, enveloping these celebrities in the fabric of our distinctly American history, of which we're all a part.
