Will Claye is an athlete competing in track and field at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for the USA, making his first appearance at the Games, where he will compete in the men's long jump and triple jump.

Will Claye earned his first Olympic berth with a pair of strong performances at the U.S. Trials. In the men's long jump final, he bounded out to a slightly-wind-aided mark of 8.23m/27-0 in the second round that put him in a tie with eventual winner Marquise Goodwin and held up for second place. In the triple jump, it was Claye's opening effort that proved to be his best as his mark of 17.55m/57-7 placed him second behind college teammate Christian Taylor.

Claye will be one of a handful of U.S. athletes competing in multiple individual events in London. The men's list includes Claye and Galen Rupp, who will compete in the 5000m and 10,000m. On the women's side, the list of doublers includes Carmelita Jeter and Allyson Felix in the 100m and 200m and Sanya Richards-Ross in the 200m and 400m.

Claye's 2012 season began with a bang as he established a triple jump world lead with his mark of 17.39m/57-0 ¾ at the Tyson Invitational. At the USA Indoor Championships, he won the triple jump with another world-leading mark of 17.63m/57-10¼ and finished second in the long jump at 8.02m/26-3¾. He went on to claim his first title at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul with a triple-jump clearance of 17.70m/58-0¾. He also placed fourth in the long jump.

Claye wrapped up his collegiate career in style, winning SEC titles in the long and triple jumps and the triple jump title at the NCAA Championships. Just after his 20th birthday, Claye qualified for the 2011 World Outdoor Championships in both the long jump and the triple jump at USA Outdoors and went on to win bronze in the triple jump in Daegu. After the meet, he and teammate Christian Taylor withdrew from the University of Florida and turned professional in order to concentrate on preparing for the 2012 London Olympics. Claye is sponsored by Nike and is training under the guidance of Martin Smith.

The Olympics will afford Claye the opportunity to reunite with family members he has never met. His mother, Saffie Claye, is from Africa and she moved to London with her family and some of her siblings are still there.
