"Work of Art: The Next Great Artist" returns for Season 2 This imaginative series is a creative synergy between the Emmy-winning producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz from the Magical Elves ("Top Chef," "Top Chef Masters"), Sarah Jessica Parker and Alison Benson from Pretty Matches and producer Eli Holzman. Assembled in New York City under the watchful eye of art world elites, fourteen up-and-coming artists are ready to make their mark on the industry and battle it out for a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum and a cash prize of $100,000.

China Chow, host and judge, lends her artistic grace to the second season of Bravo's cutting-edge competition that brings fine art dialogue to the forefront of pop culture. Returning to the judging panel is Bill Powers, a New York Gallery owner and literary art contributor, as well as Jerry Saltz, senior art critic for New York Magazine. World-renowned art auctioneer Simon de Pury adds his voice of expertise as a mentor to the contestants.

This season the competition has grown fierce, with artists who graduated top of their class at Yale, studied under Marilyn Minter, and even had their work sold by Phillips de Pury Auction & Company. The challenges range from inventive street art to the use of Parkour, a discipline where participants overcome obstacles using only their bodies to move from point A to point B in the most creative way possible, as inspiration. Each week, the contestants are tasked to create an original artwork in the medium of their choice, including - but not limited to, painting, sculpture, photography, collage, industrial design and performance art.

Joining the expert panel each week are professional artists and tastemakers known for challenging the mold in the constantly evolving art world. Guest judges include Adam McEwen, Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, Kaws and Mary Ellen Mark.

The "Work of Art" Season 2 contestants are Bayeté Ross Smith, Michelle, Dusty, Jazz-Minh Moore, Kathryn Parker Almanas, Kymia Nawabi, Leon Lim, Lola, Sara Jimenez, Sarah Kabot, The Sucklord, Michael Tewz, Ugo Nonis and Young Sun Han.

"Work of Art: The Next Great Artist," is produced by Pretty Matches and Magical Elves for Bravo. Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Alison Benson and Eli Holzman serve as executive producers.

I thought of this show months ago. I wounder why this type of show had not been done before and said I should make a show about artist competing. Maybe I can apply to be on the show sometime in the future. I am attending grad school this next year to recieve my MFA.
barbara says:
The pathway to becoming a great artist is to conccentrate on one art form. The winner of this project is probably not the next greatest artist but just the luckiest artist on Bravo.

...... to say this show is about geting art out there is a very stupid thing to say. Art IS out there. they are just running out of ideas for these dumb reality shows. what this show will do is destroy art to someone who knows nothing about it. it will turn art in to something cheap and cheesy. in art no one is wrong. everyone has their own style. yet these judges are going to say who is and who isnt an artist? look at van gogh. no one liked his art and no one bought his art. no one gave a damn about him during his time. now look at him. when you go see his pieces its like seeing a celebrity because so many people are fighting to get a look. i pray to God people will not watch this show. go take a class on art history or go to a gallery or even better learn to paint with oils. this show is not what art is. “get rich” “get famous” <- thats not what art is about!
stellazowie says:
I am so happy with this show. I did not know there were so many different forms of art out there. This show leaves me feeling satisfied and creative each week. Thank you.

Got Work of Art: The Next Great Artist spoilers? What did you think of the last show?
