Xavier Samuel stars in Roland Emmerich's "Anonymous," opposite Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave, as the Earl of Southampton.

Samuel is currently in Australia shooting the film "Drift" opposite Sam Worthington. "Drift" is a drama set in the 1970s about two brothers who revolutionized the surfing industry. Over the past few years, Australian actor Xavier Samuel has generated international attention for his standout performances and is poised to become one of the most dynamic and versatile young actors of his generation.

Samuel was recently seen in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" as Riley, a good-looking college student and newborn vampire, who will do anything to help Victoria murder Bella. He was also seen in the thriller "The Loved Ones" directed by Sean Byrne, which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival in July 2009. Samuel made his screen debut in the highly-acclaimed independent feature "2:37," which chronicles the lives of six students over the course of a day and ends in a devastating suicide. Directed by newcomer Murali K. Thalluri and featuring a relatively unknown cast, the film received a standing ovation after screening in competition at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival in "Un Certain Regard." Samuel then played Will Turner in "Angela's Decision."

Following this, Samuel was cast alongside Mia Wasikowska in the feature "September," a moving story of friendship and racial division, which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival to rave reviews. Shot in the beautiful countryside of Yass in NSW, the film was also selected to screen in both the Berlin and Toronto International Film Festivals.

Additionally, Samuel co-starred in "Newcastle," a coming of age surfing drama set in the Australian town of its title. This standout performance saw him play a conflicted gay teenager troubled by his family and dealing with adolescence. "Newcastle" premiered at the Tribeca International Film Festival. Samuel went on to appear in "Further We Search."
